About Vinny
Born August 25, 1991, Vinny Pezzella was raised in Trumbull, CT. At eight years old, Vinny began his music career and took his first steps on the journey of his life’s passion. While ascending through Trumbull Public Schools, Vinny played in several ensembles, bands, and other music-related projects. In eighth grade, he joined the Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band and indoor percussion ensemble, winning back-to-back WGI Percussion Scholastic Open Class silver medals in 2008 and 2009.
Upon graduating from THS in 2009, Vinny went on to Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, where he studied marketing and music. At Hofstra, Vinny was a dedicated member of the Hofstra Concerts organization that organized weekly and biannual on-campus shows. Shortly after graduating, Vinny joined the team of the iconic CBGB group, working on a live festival project spanning several New York City blocks. After graduating, he joined TRU Events and Marketing Solutions as an Assistant Project Manager.
On March 6, 2016, Vinny was hit and killed by a drunk driver while crossing the street after a night out with friends. He was 24 years old. An indispensable, benevolent force to all who knew him, Vinny’s infectious laugh, larger-than-life personality, and intense love of music are sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
